Who answers when I call during tax season?
You call the office at (954) 710-8296 and ask for Harry. Harry Deshommes has prepared taxes for 24+ years and has worked in TaxWise for 20+. During tax season the office is open Mon–Fri 8:00 am – 8:00 pm, Sat 9:00 am – 2:00 pm. Premium offices also get a direct line to Harry.
Part IIPricing and credits
Pricing and credits
How much does it cost to start?
New offices start with the Base package: $1,295 for the 2027 season, or $1,195 if you pay by October 31, 2026. Current-year e-file is included. There is also a $40 service bureau fee per funded bank product, which is taken from your client’s refund, not paid by your office. Not included: transmission fee, SFS technology fee, and bank fees.
What counts as a bank product?
A funded refund transfer: the taxpayer’s refund goes through the bank, and the fees are paid from it. Only funded bank products count toward your package, and we confirm the count with the bank’s end-of-season report.
How do the credits work if I start in Base?
You pay for Base up front. After the season, if your office funded 50 or more bank products, you earn a $600 credit toward next season. Fund 200 or more and you earn your full $1,295 back as credit. Credits are counted from the bank’s end-of-season report and are applied to your next season with us. They are not paid out in cash. See worked examples.
What if my office finishes below its package level?
Offices placed in Medium or Premium by last season’s bank report pay that package’s price up front. If the season finishes below that level, the difference is billed after the season, based on the bank’s end-of-season report. No surprises: you’ll know the rule before you sign up.
What isn’t included in the price?
Not included: transmission fee, SFS technology fee, and bank fees. Those appear on the bank paperwork, and Harry will give you the current amounts before you choose. Current-year e-file is free; prior-year e-files are $6 per return.
When does the early-bird offer end?
Pay for Base or Medium by October 31, 2026 and take $100 off. Premium is already free.

Do I need my own EFIN?
Yes. Every office uses its own EFIN, and we never share or lend one. If you don’t have one yet, we help you apply. There is currently no IRS fee, but approval can take up to 45 days, so start early. How to apply for an EFIN.
Can I sign up before my EFIN is approved?
Yes. Many new offices sign up in the fall and use the waiting time for training and setup. You need an active EFIN before you can enroll in bank products and e-file.
I’ve never prepared taxes. Can I still start?
Yes. Start in Base and work through the launch checklist. You get software training, a setup path and Harry to call when you get stuck, and the Tax Office Success Course is on the way. You are responsible for accurate returns and due diligence, and some states require preparers to register, so take training seriously. The full startup checklist.
How do I get paid by my clients?
With a bank product, your preparation fees are deducted from your client’s refund and paid to you through the bank, so the client doesn’t pay out of pocket. You can also collect fees directly from clients who don’t use a bank product.
Does it matter which state my office is in?
Offices anywhere in the U.S. can file with TaxWise through us. Some states require tax preparers to register or hold a license, including California, Oregon, New York, Maryland and Connecticut. Florida does not. Check your state’s rules before the season, and ask us if you’re not sure.

I’m with another service bureau. Can I switch?
Yes. Send us last season’s bank report and we place your office in Base, Medium or Premium by your funded bank products. Tell Harry which software you use now, and he’ll tell you what can come over before you commit. How switching works.

Why not buy TaxWise directly from Wolters Kluwer?
You can. TaxWise sold direct starts at $1,849 for 100 individual returns, plus a one-time $83 processing fee (Wolters Kluwer list price). Through us, Base is $1,295 and gets cheaper as your office grows, down to free at 200+ funded bank products. You also get a person to call in Margate, help with bank-product enrollment, and training. Can you help my clients with health insurance and Form 1095-A?
Yes. Refer clients who need coverage to licensed health insurance agents for a flat referral fee that never depends on whether a policy is sold. And if a client is missing Form 1095-A, the 1095-A fast-track gets it through approved Marketplace channels. We never ask for or store a client’s HealthCare.gov login. See all add-on services.
